The current building was constructed between 1250 and 1400 in a pure Gothic style to replace the previous Romanesque structure. Of special note are the bronze funerary plaques based on designs by Albrecht Dürer and Lucas Cranach, as well as the Lay Brothers’ Altar and Benefactors’ statues from the studio of Cranach. Opening hours are April to October from 9 am to 6 pm and November to March from 10 am to 4 pm. During the summer months 20-minute organ concerts are held daily, except Sundays, at noon, with longer concerts on Saturday at 6 pm.
